His doctor has confirmed that President Joe Biden will have a root canal on Monday at the White House. As a result, the White House has been forced to make a last-minute adjustment to the president’s planned schedule.
Kevin C. O’Connor, Biden’s personal physician, issued a statement saying that the president, who at the age of 80 is the oldest person to ever hold the office of vice president, was “experiencing further discomfort” from a premolar tooth in his lower right jaw that had only been partially fixed.
According to the press office of the White House, Vice President Biden is scheduled to “undergo a root canal this morning at the White House.”
Even though the doctor’s note did not indicate that there was any risk to Biden’s health, the treatment looked to be unplanned. This is because the president canceled a scheduled appearance at an event recognizing university athletes less than an hour before the event began.
It was not obvious at this time whether or if a meeting with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg will take place later.
As he seeks election for a second term in 2024, Biden’s health is the subject of intense scrutiny. If he were to win a third term, he would leave office having reached the age of 86.
According to O’Connor, Biden initially suffered “some dental pain” in the tooth on Sunday, which prompted a team from the Walter Reed presidential hospital to travel to the White House in order to examine the vice president.
Within the confines of the White House Dental Operatory, the crew was allowed to carry out an examination, which included taking X-rays. They came to the conclusion that endodontic treatment, also known as root canal therapy, was the most suitable option. O’Connor noted that the initial root canal procedure had been conducted at the time, with a plan for expert endodontic follow up in the near future.
Biden is claimed to have “tolerated the procedure well,” according to the doctor. There were no challenges to overcome.”
This surgery was not made public until Monday, when it was also announced that Vice President Biden would be having the remainder of his root canal and would be canceling at least one public appearance.
