It is now official that Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, better known by his stage moniker The Weeknd, has altered his online presence by changing the names that are displayed on his social media profiles to reflect his birth name.
As part of a personal cathartic journey, Tesfaye stated his aim to “kill The Weeknd” in an interview with W Magazine. “Killing The Weeknd” is a reference to the musician Abel Tesfaye.
In spite of the fact that he intends to keep making music, he is eager to lose his artistic character and be reborn as himself. He is even considering the possibility that his future album may serve as The Weeknd’s final recording.
Notably, The Weeknd has lately earned a great amount of success, earning two Guinness World Records in the process. The first of these records is for being the first artist to surpass 100 million monthly listeners, and the second record is for having the highest number of monthly listeners on Spotify.
In addition, his song “Die for You” topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart, making it his sixth song overall to achieve the top spot in that chart.
