According to the police, a tragic incident occurred in Baltimore on Sunday, resulting in the loss of two lives and injuries to 28 individuals due to a mass shooting.
During a press conference, Acting Police Commissioner Rich Worley stated that the police received several calls about a shooting in the Brooklyn neighborhood of Maryland state, shortly after 12:30 am on Sunday (04:30 GMT).
Worley said that when the officers arrived, they found several victims who had been shot.
A woman who was an adult was found dead at the scene, and nine more people were taken to nearby hospitals, according to what he said.
The commissioner also mentioned that an additional twenty victims were taken to hospitals in the area.
The other person who passed away was also an adult. He said that three people are in critical condition.
Worley mentioned that the authorities are currently in the process of identifying a suspect and trying to understand the motive behind the shooting.
At the press conference, Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott expressed his deep sorrow over this tragic event, emphasizing that it could have been prevented.
Scott said that this situation once again brings attention to the effects and the importance of addressing the excessive presence of illegal firearms in our communities. It also emphasizes the fact that individuals who should not possess these weapons are still able to obtain them.
He said that they won’t give up until they locate the cowards responsible for shooting numerous people, resulting in the loss of two lives.
