According to the statements made by regional officials, a fire that was started early on Saturday morning in the Odesa region of southern Ukraine by falling debris from shot-down drones resulted in the deaths of three individuals.
“At night, the enemy attacked Odesa Region with attack drones,” the regional authorities stated in a statement that was shared across social media, referring to the Russian military.
According to the statement, Ukraine’s air defense troops were successful in destroying all of the unmanned aerial vehicles, but the falling debris from those vehicles struck a high-rise residential structure, causing it to catch fire.
“Unfortunately, there are victims among the civilian population,” officials said, adding that three individuals were killed and another 26 – including three children — wounded.
Separately, the southern command of Ukraine reported that the fire had been extinguished, but that the explosion wave had damaged numerous adjoining apartment complexes.
