Moscow announced on Thursday that it had prevented a Ukrainian attempt to “invade” its southwestern border, but at the same time it bombarded Kiev with missiles, resulting in the deaths of three people, including a toddler.

Moscow claimed that it had prevented an effort by Ukrainian soldiers to “invade” the southwestern Belgorod region while Kyiv was launching air defenses against a fresh volley of Russian ballistic and cruise missiles.
According to the statement made by the Russian defense ministry, “at approximately three in the morning (0000 GMT), Ukrainian units comprising up to two motorized infantry companies, reinforced with tanks, attempted to invade.”

An attack in the Belgorod region that officials believe was carried out by Ukrainian military left eight persons injured earlier in the day, it was reported by the authorities of that region.
The most recent assault by Moscow on Kyiv started just before three in the morning local time when cruise and ballistic missiles were launched from the territory of Bryansk in Russia.

Rocket parts that fell to the ground in Kyiv’s northeastern Desnyanskyi neighborhood were responsible for the deaths of three people, one of them was a kid aged nine years old. 16 more people were injured in the attack.
Yaroslav Ryabchuk, the spouse of one of the victims, stated that the shelter where they frequently hid from Russian strikes was closed on Thursday, so he rushed to seek help. He referred to the sounds of screaming and dust as the reason for his flight.
“There was a significant amount of blood when I returned; children and women were found laying there. He told AFP that there was also a lot of dust and cries.
He then went on to say that his children had been “left without a mother,” adding that “nothing matters any longer.”
It was confirmed by the Mayor of Kyiv, Vitali Klitschko, that three persons were killed when “a fragment of rocket” dropped close to a clinic while people were running for cover after receiving an alarm about an air raid.
According to Interior Minister Igor Klymenko, “a closed shelter in wartime is not just indifference; it is a crime,” and he also mentioned that an investigation had been initiated into the matter.
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, has spoken out against what he calls Russia’s “terrorizing” of the civilian population.
Moscow asserts that it is solely targeting Ukrainian military installations in its aggression.
Russia has stated that it has been relocating hundreds of youngsters from border settlements as a result of the increasing number of attacks.
The governor of Bolgorod stated that residents of the town of Shebekino who were forced to abandon their homes as a result of intense bombardment were filling up makeshift shelters in the headquarters of the regional government.

Ukraine denied any “direct involvement” in the incident.
The United States Department of Defense has stated that they would be providing Ukraine with a new weaponry package worth $300 million. This package will include air defense systems as well as tens of millions of rounds of ammunition.
The United States has stated that it will not back any kind of attack within Russia and will instead provide Kyiv with the tools and training it needs to retake its land.
According to the Defense Department, the total value of the United States’ security assistance to Ukraine since Russia’s incursion in February 2022 will reach $37.6 billion once these aid shipments are completed.
