After emerging from a coma, the goalkeeper for Paris Saint-Germain, Sergio Rico, is again alert and able to communicate once more, according to hospital sources who spoke with AFP on Wednesday.
After suffering injuries sustained in an accident involving a horse while attending a local festival on May 28, a 29-year-old woman was hospitalized to the Virgen del Rocio hospital in Seville.
Although Rico sustained a serious brain damage and was placed in a coma as a result of the accident, according to his wife Alba Silva, he was able to recognize his family and call them by their names on Monday.
The previous week, Silva reported to the neighborhood media that Rico had come out of his coma and that she could “see the light.”
Following a successful loan stint with Paris Saint-Germain, the goalkeeper made the move to join the club permanently in 2020. He had previously won the Europa League twice with his hometown club Sevilla.
