Mackenzie Dern, a contender in the strawweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), believes that her division will soon see the crowning of a new champion. It is her opinion that Zhang Weili, the current champion, will be unsuccessful in defending her title against Amanda Lemos, the current challenger, at UFC 292, which will take place in Boston on August 19. Dern, who has a record of 13-3 in MMA and 8-3 in the UFC, thinks that Lemos will not only defeat Weili but also put an end to him.
A recent interview that Dern gave to Michael Bisping indicated that Amanda Lemos is a challenging opponent, and that Dern does not want to fight Lemos at this time because of this. In spite of the fact that Weili is a formidable opponent and the current best in the world at 115 pounds, Dern is confident that Lemos will overtake her within the first quarter of an hour of their battle.
According to Dern, Namajunas knocked Weili out with a kick to the chin, and Weili was knocked unconscious as a result. She is of the opinion that Lemos, who has a solid base, is difficult to knock out but that he may be able to land a shot that will put Weili out of commission. Dern is under the impression that Weili will not be able to employ her ground game against Lemos since the latter player possesses a solid base, and Weili does not have large biceps like Jessica Andrade does.
Dern recently competed against Angela Hill and was victorious by way of unanimous decision. Visit the event site that MMA Junkie has created for UFC 292 for additional information.
