Alexis Mac Allister, an Argentine international who won the World Cup with Brighton and was available for transfer, was confirmed to have signed with Liverpool on Thursday for a rumoured sum of £55 million ($69 million).
Liverpool, who finished in a disappointing fifth place in the Premier League, have begun the process of rebuilding their midfield with the addition of a 24-year-old midfielder.
Mac Allister remarked that he had an incredible experience with it. “This is nothing short of a miracle. Being able to come to this place is a dream come true, and I can’t wait to get started.
“I wanted to be in from the first day of pre-season, so it’s good that everything is finished. I’ll be ready to go.” I can’t wait to finally put a face to the names of my teammates.
“It was a fantastic year for me, including the World Cup and what we accomplished with Brighton, but now it’s time to think about Liverpool and try to be a better player and a better human being every day,” he said. “It’s time to focus on Liverpool and what we achieved with Brighton.”
After the departures of midfielders James Milner, Naby Keita, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is looking to add more fresh players to the club’s roster.
The club was priced out of a deal for Jude Bellingham, who is likely to join Real Madrid after the teams agreed to a cost of 100 million euros ($107 million). Bellingham is a rising star for England at the age of just 19.
