According to the city’s fire department, four individuals sustained injuries in a blast and fire incident at a building in central Tokyo. Footage of the incident reveals flames and smoke coming out of a business located on the second floor.
A fire broke out in a building located in the restaurant area of the busy Shimbashi district at around 3:20 pm (0620 GMT).
I also heard the sound of an explosion. According to a spokesperson from the fire department who preferred to remain anonymous, there are currently 32 fire trucks present at the scene.
He mentioned that four people were injured, with three of them being conscious. Unfortunately, there are no details available at the moment regarding the fourth person.
The authorities are currently looking into what caused the fire.
The noise was incredibly loud. A man who witnessed the incident told NHK, “It felt like something really big was dropped from the top of the building. The sound was incredibly loud.”
There were pieces of paper scattered all over the nearby intersection. He said that he could immediately tell it was an explosion based on the way things were scattered.
