The bodies of three people—two women and a man—with gunshot wounds were discovered Wednesday at a house deep in the woods of the province of Styria in Austria, according to the local police.
The man’s employer became concerned for his well-being when he failed to appear for work on Tuesday, and as a result, a search was initiated late in the day.
Around 18:00 (1600 GMT), the police were able to obtain access to the locked residence in the neighborhood of Murau, where they discovered three victims with “obvious gunshot wounds.”
The police have stated that it is not possible to rule out the possibility that another person was involved in the fatalities.
The names and ages of the three victims have not been made public, but it has been established that two of the victims were a married couple who resided in the residence, and the third victim was a female.
Unconfirmed stories in the media suggested that the victims included a teacher, his ex-girlfriend, and German tourists on vacation.
