American Express has partnered with Metalwood Studio to develop and sell a custom capsule featuring a crew neck sweatshirt, T-shirt, bucket hat and a driver head cover that will debut during the golf Championship week in Los Angeles. The co-branded limited-edition merchandise will be exclusively available and sold on a website that can be accessed through POAPs.
The American Express x Metalwood capsule is only available on a page within HBX that is accessed through the POAPs, and it is only available to American Express Card Members and visitors who visit the brand’s on-site American Express Card Member Lounge, which is situated close to the third fairway. On each of the five days of the professional golf event in Los Angeles, POAPs will be released, giving golfers the chance to take home Metalwood-designed gear (conditions apply). Every day, a small number of the entire collection will be made available in restricted amounts.
American Express has previously entered the Web3 market. The company published a number of POAPs last year, including two in New York during the American Express NBA 2K23 Lab Experience and one at Austin City Limits. American Express tees up for a stylish entrance at this year’s PGA Championship in Los Angeles, fronted by none other than Metalwood Studio, a streetwear-influenced golf company giving classic white polos a run for their money. American Express strengthens its position in Web3 through this activation (and others to come), showcasing the many ways Card Members may level up on exceptional customer experiences and benefits. Other cross-cultural partnerships, such as the blue American Express sneakers created in cooperation with Don C during NBA All-Star, highlight how American Express is extending its cultural impact through fashion-led activations.
