According to the Afghan Ministry of the Interior, at least 11 persons were killed and 30 others were injured by an explosion that occurred on Thursday at a funeral service for an Afghan acting provincial governor who was slain by a suicide bomber earlier this week.
The explosion occurred at a memorial service for Nisar Ahmad Ahmadi in Faizabad, which is the capital of Badakhshan province. A statement issued by the Interior Ministry of the IEA read, “The Ministry of the Interior of the IEA condemns this brutality of the disgraced enemies.”
The Islamic State organization is still a problem, despite the fact that the security situation has much improved since the Taliban surged back to power in August 2021, ending their two-decade war and removing a government sponsored by the United States.
IS took credit for Ahmadi’s death on Tuesday, which occurred when a suicide bomber drove a car laden with explosives into the vehicle he was traveling in. In addition to Ahmadi, that incident took the life of Ahmadi’s driver and left six others injured.
According to the ministry of the interior, the explosion that took place on Thursday took place at the Nabawi mosque in Faizabad while “a great number of compatriots” had assembled for Ahmadi’s funeral.
